Small fires shut down Ground Sayles restrooms, three separate alarms pulled in Goodhue and Evans halls

By KRLX News on March 1, 2009 in news

Both the men's and women's restrooms in Ground Sayles are covered in nuisance dust after a student extinguished small fires in both restrooms, Security Services reports.

It is believed that both fires were ignited at approximately 1:30 AM. Security Services said they were tipped off by a student who took pictures of the damage on his cellular phone.

Security Services reports someone "maliciously" ignited two posters on display in the men's restroom. One of the charred posters ironically offers students advice on making healthy decisions throughout the academic term.

Security Services believes the same was done in the women's restroom, however, KRLX News found no evidence to prove that a paper fire caused that blaze.

At this hour, both fires are believed to be connected. No suspects, no motives have been reported.

KRLX News has learned three fire alarms were pulled in Goodhue and Evans residence halls during the 2:00 AM hour.

No word yet on if those alarms are connected to the Sayles fire.

An investigation is underway.
