Straight From the Racks (Record Library Album of the Week): Lovely Hula Hands, Various Artists

By Allie S. on May 12, 2008 in main

I think it was sometime fall term when I was just down in the record library, poking around, not re-shelving things on a Friday. There are a lot of records behind the desk, one of which was a record called “Lovely Hula Hands”. It is bright blue with a woman dancing on the cover, of course. On back are all kinds of hula moves you can do. The whole thing just looks really good.

Admittedly, I know nothing about hula music or dancing. I know what pop culture has told me and what tourism has told my friends, but I have no idea if that’s trustable. I just know that this record is great. It’s great to listen to when you feel shitty or when it’s cold or when everything’s coming up roses. It doesn’t matter, it’ll just make you feel great. Or maybe it won’t make you feel anything in particular, but you’ll definitely like it. It’s so worth it. The record is also translucent, so there’s that too.

You could probably find it in the world music section, but I like to keep it behind the desk so I can listen to it all the time.
