You're the only proper noun I need.By Sarah N. on February 27, 2008 in mp3blog Why? blows my mind for hard-to-explain reasons. I like the music without liking anything about it. Hyper-audacious-super-cheeky-wtf lyrics paired with indie-rock/hip-hop fusion just isn't my thing. But Yoni Wolf (mastermind/frontman) is undeniably, absolutely and completely un-self-consciously raw, dry, offbeat, and for these adjectives, his rhymes become hard to hate. That said, it's really his gorgeous melodies that swirl and seethe to the forefront of my mind. "Are you what church folk mean by good news—pulling plastic bags off heads?" You tell me. The new Why? album, Alopecia hits the streets courtesy of Anticon on March 11th, and the KRLX airwaves early next week. Preview them here.
